What I'm Wearing | Winter OOTD

Sunday, 30 November 2014

Coat - Topshop
Blouse - Topshop
Jumper - Topshop
Skirt - H&M
Tights- Primark
Shoes - Topshop

There's no denying that we are now well and truly in Winter. My winter coat is out, the nights are drawing in and it's getting colder and colder. During the winter months, my fail proof outfit is a collared blouse teamed with a jumper and leggings/skirt. I've lost count of how many blouses and jumpers I own now. Unfortunately, all of my clothes in these photos are last season as I haven't had a chance to update my wardrobe this year, but I know the skirt and tights are still available. This is probably one of my favourite outfits. I absolutely love my studded collard blouse, it was actually a Christmas present from my brother (sibling points!), I think the studs help complete the look. I wore it with a pretty simple quilted jumper from Topshop and the fail proof black jersey skirt from H&M of which I've owned about 5 and I think every other girl has too! I discovered these tights from Primark last year and actually incluced them in my Winter Essentials last year. They have a super soft and warm woollen lining inside, so they are perfect for when it's really cold. I completed this look with my red t-bar shoes from Topshop. I think they're so super cute and add a bit of colour to the outfit to help brighten the Winter months.

Hair Care Favourites

Wednesday, 26 November 2014

I've always been really lazy when it comes to my hair. Having naturally blonde, dead straight hair, I've never felt the need to do much with it. However, over the past year or so, I have become increasingly bored with it and have branched out to try different products to help style my hair. I have tried a variety of products and think I now have a fail proof combination that I use on a regular basis.

1./TRESemmé - Amplifying Mousse
After hairspray, the mouse was the next product that I invested in. I wanted more volume in my hair and thought that this would be the best product for it. I have tried some of the other TRESemmé mouses and also a VO5 one, but this is one that I am currently settled on and use every time I wash my hair.

2./TRESemmé - Smooth Memory Spray, Frizz Control
This is probably my most recent purchase. I've never really considered myself to have really frizzy hair, but occasionally I do have a few 'fly aways' that are really annoying. Also, with the new Mark Hill Shampoo I've been using (see review here) I found that it made my hair a little more frizzy. I love the shampoo so much that I wanted to find a way to reduce the frizz and be able to continue using it and this was my solution.

3./Toni&Guy - Heat Protection Mist
As I mentioned, I'm really lazy with my hair and never have the need to straighten it, however, very occasionally I decide to curl it. Earlier this year I bought some new curlers (read about them here) and started to curl my hair more. As I'm so protective over my hair I knew I needed to look after it when I used a lot of heat. I wasn't sure really where to start looking for heat protector sprays, but this one was on offer in Boots so I thought I would give it a try and I really love it. My only criticism is that the pump broke on it the first time I used it. I've since managed to fix it, but I'm not sure if I just bought a faulty one or if they're all like that, so just be aware if you do think about buying this product.

4./Toni&Guy - Sea Salt Texturising Spray
I'd read about salt sprays on a few blogs and the effect they had on the hair. I really liked the idea of them because I wanted more texture in my hair and to give it more life, something that my hair was really lacking. As this was on offer with the Heat Protection Mist, I decided to give it a go. It doesn't have such a good effect on my hair as it does on other people's, but I do like the added volume it provides and I do use it regularly. I think I'm just going to have to face facts that my hair is never going to have that 'tousled' look.

5./Wella - Silvkrin, Classic
I've used this hairspray for years. Having tried hairsprays from TRESemmé, VO5 and L'Oréal I have yet to find one as good as this and am always going back to it. My hair stays in place all day when I use this and when I do curl my hair, it holds the curls for quite a lengthy time. I do have to get the maximum hold to get the most out of it, but it's my go to hair product.

The Body Shop Haul

Sunday, 23 November 2014

I am the proud owner of a Love Your Body membership card at The Body Shop, it entitles you to a lot of discounts and deals that customers without a card do not get. One of the best things about the card, is that you get a free £5 gift during the month of your birthday. As my birthday is at the end of the month, I thought I would have a little look at what I would put my £5 towards. However, as is always the case when I go into The Body Shop, I ended up spending a lot more money than I had anticipated especially as they had 40% off for card holders. I thought I would share my latest purchases with you.

1./Warming Mineral Mask - £10
I've blogged about this before so I won't go into too much detail about it (to read my review click here). However, I'm running low on the one I already had and so thought it was about time that I bought a new one.

2./Coconut Body Butter - £13
If you've read my blog, you will know of my love for the body butters at The Body Shop. Every season, I like to try a new scent. Last winter, I loved the shea butter body butter and this year, I thought I'd try the coconut. My mum recently had some and I absolutely loved it, so I thought I would give it a try myself.

3./Coconut Lip Butter - £4
As is tradition, I always have to get the matching lip butter to my chosen scent of body butter. This season was no exception. I love the lip butters as they really do keep your lips moisturised throughout the day. They add a bit of a shine to the lips and smell so beautiful.

4./Coconut Hand Cleanse Gel - £2.50
Normally, I don't feel the need to match my hand cleanse gel to the rest of my products, but by coincidence I did this time. I've tried the satsuma and mango scents before so wanted to try something different and the only other one they had in stock was coconut so I thought I would give it a try.

A Day Out To Kingston Upon Thames

Wednesday, 19 November 2014

It's been ages since Emil and I went on a roadtrip together because of work and uni commitments etc. However, we both had a free day on Sunday and decided to visit Kingston Upon Thames. It's only about 40 minutes away from my house and I used to go there quite a lot with my parents, but we haven't been in years, so I thought it would be the perfect place to visit as it wasn't too far away. We parked just outside of Kingston and walked along the Thames, which was lovely, although I imagine it would be a lot nicer to do in the summer as it was a rather grey day. We walked around a few of the shops and then went for lunch in yet another cute, hipster - type cafe. My obsession with these kind of cafes is still going strong! We had the most amazing sausage and onion chutney sandwiches and also tried a melon, spinach, kale and apple smoothie, which was interesting! There were some really cute Christmas markets in the square which were lovely to walk around and the food smelt delicious! As it got darker, the little streets became alight with fairy lights and Christmas decorations, which was so pretty to see. I had such a fun day, it was so nice to get out of the house and have a day where I didn't have to worry about anything.

The Fairy Tale Tag

Sunday, 16 November 2014

I saw this the other week on Jessie's blog and thought it was the cutest idea ever, so thought I'd give it a try as I've never done a tag before.

Snow White - Do you consider yourself beautiful?

I'm one of those people who is never 100% happy with the way I look, my make up may not be quite right or I might be having a bad hair day. I wouldn't be as vain as to say I'm beautiful, but I like to think I'm not ugly ha.

Sleeping Beauty - How many hours do you sleep at night?
A lot! I have to get at least 8-9 hours to be able to function like a normal human being the next day.

Cinderella - Do you have a curfew?
No, I did when I was younger, but now that I'm older it would be a bit weird if my parents told me I had to be home by a certain time.

Rapunzel - Do you love being outside?
Yes, I like going on adventures and trips to the park/beach when it's really hot or autumn walks when it's slightly colder. Having said that, not much beats a night in when you know it's pouring with rain outside and you can just snuggle in bed.

Red Riding Hood - Do you trust strangers easily?
Yes, I think that can be my downfall at times as I like to see the best in everyone. However, when it come to relationships, it takes me a long time for me to build my trust with them.

The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids - Are you easily fooled?

I can be, I'm quite naive and gullible so a lot of the time, I just go along with what people are saying/doing.

Beauty and the Beast - What makes someone beautiful in your eyes?
A positive outlook on life, happy and not taking themselves too seriously.

The Little Mermaid - What would you sacrifice for love?
I know this sounds really cheesy, but I would sacrifice anything, I'm a big softy at heart!

The Frog Prince - What do you find disgusting?
One thing that I cannot stand is when people eat with their mouths open or talk and spray food at you - ugh!

Jack and the Beanstalk - Do you have any plants?

Not personally, mum and dad have a lot. I love a bunch of cream roses though, but I never have the money to buy them.

Puss in Boots - Do you have pets? If not, do you want them?
No, not anymore. I used to have two goldfish and a hamster when I was younger. I don't really like pets because I'm allergic to cats and dogs so it puts me off owning them. I wish I could have a hamster again, but I don't have the time to look after it at the moment.

Bluebeard - What is your weak point?

I would have to say either my self-esteem, I wish I had more faith in myself or my anxiety. I worry a lot about unnecessary things and it can get me down quite a lot.

Pinocchio - What is your biggest wish?

Currently, it's to know what I want to do with my life. Then when I'm older I want to be successful at my job and have a family of my own.

Peter Pan - What is your mental age?
This is a difficult one because I can have my really immature moments where I run around like a crazy person and then at other times all I want to do is get into bed with a cup of green tea and watch Coronation Street.

The Star Money - What is your most valuable possession?
I'm not sure if this really counts, but I would say my degree. I know it's not a possession as such, but it is something that is so valuable to me because I worked so hard for it and am really proud of myself for what I achieved.

The Snow Queen - Who is your best friend and what would you do for him/her?
Can I have three? Firstly, I'm going to start with my mum, I know that's a really cheesy one, but she has obviously been through everything with me and I can turn to her about anything. Secondly, is my best gal Becca. We met at university, lived together for 3 years and went through so much together that I'd say she knows me inside out. Lastly, I'd say Emil because he knows how weird and crazy I am, yet he still loves me. I would do absolutely anything for these three and I hope that they know that too.

The Princess and the Pea - Are you sensitive?
Yes, very. I like to think I have a hard exterior, but really I don't. I take a lot of things to heart and get upset about stuff that really shouldn't bother me.

Godfather Death - What qualities make a good parent?
Love and all round care. That's what my parents gave me and I think they did a pretty good job.

The Worn-Out Dancing Shoes - Do you like parties?
Yes! I miss university so much because there were constant parties every week. I love getting ready for a night out, doing my make up and hair, as well as deciding what outfit to wear.

The Emperor's New Clothes - Do you care a lot about your clothing?

Yes, although I wish I was more fashionable than I am. Also, I'm having to do a lot of saving at the moment, so buying clothes is becoming less of a priority.

The Brave Little Tailor - Do you consider yourself brave?
Not at all! I'm scared of absolutely anything and everything. I have an extremely low pain threshold and jump at the slightest noise.

I tag anyone that hasn't done this tag yet as it's so much fun!

Winter Wishlist | Fashion

Wednesday, 12 November 2014

Seeing as I never have the time to go shopping any more, I've been looking online for some new clothes to update my winter wardrobe, here is what I have found and is on my current wishlist.

1./Black Molly Faux Leather Biker
Okay this is slightly cheating with this one because I do already own this jacket, but it's perfect for those days when it's not quite cold enough for a big coat, yet you still need a jacket.

2./Miss Selfridge - Navy Check Scarf
One of the things I love about winter is scarves and I absolutely love this one from Miss Selfridge.

3./Miss Selfridge - Cream Turn Up Beanie
I'm never sure if I suit hats, but I think this Beanie is absolutely adorable and would love for it to suit me. Maybe it'll be one of those items that I just have to admire on someone else.

4./Topshop - Textured Fisherman Jumper
Who doesn't love a thick jumper in the winter? This one looks so warm and cosy, I do love the Topshop jumpers just a little bit too much.

5./Topshop - Lace Smock Dress
I popped into Topshop briefly in Norwich the other week and this dress caught my eye straight away. This would be ideal for winter because it's quite thick and I think it would be perfect paired with some thick woolly tights and ankle boots

6./Clarks - Malm Dance Ankle Boots
I know it feels like I'm forever plugging the shoes in Clarks, but working there means I get to see a lot of the new stock and am surrounded by it all day. I've had my eye on these boots for a while, but I can't make my mind up whether I like them enough to buy them.

What's on your winter wishlist? Let me know in the comments below.

My Perfect Night In

Sunday, 9 November 2014

Anyone who knows me will know that I love a good night out, however, sometimes you need those nights where you can just chill, watch tv and relax after a busy day especially in the Winter when it's so cold outside. Here are my top tips for the perfect night in.

1./Comfy Clothes/PJs
Before I start a relaxing night in, I always get into some comfortable clothes or my PJs and get cosy for my chilled night.

2./Face Mask
I like to remove all my make up and let my skin breathe. I then use a face mask to help cleanse my skin, I'm still loving Body Shop's Warming Mineral Mask as mentioned in a previous post. I apply this generously to my face and leave it on for around five to ten minutes whilst I prepare for the rest of my night.

3./Candles
I absolutely love candles, especially in the winter as they make a room so warm and cosy. I always light a few candles, especially scented ones and put my fairy lights on to create the perfect atmosphere for my chilled evening.

3./Hot Chocolate
On a normal evening I like to drink green tea as it's full of antioxidants and helps to hydrate me, but when I'm planning a night dedicated to chilling, I treat myself to a hot chocolate, because who doesn't like a hot chocolate on a cold winters night?

4./TV
A chilled night in wouldn't be complete without a film or TV series to watch. I'm still absolutely loving 'Orange Is The New Black' and now that 'Revenge' is back, I have plenty to choose from for my relaxed night in.

What is your perfect night in? Let me know in the comments below.

Halloween 2K14

Tuesday, 4 November 2014

Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year and for the last three years I've been in Norwich for it so it was only right that I went back up this year. A lot of my friends also returned to Norwich for the night and we had so much fun!  I love fancy dress so, Halloween is right up my street. I know that it's too late now for any make up/fancy dress ideas for this year, but who knows, my photos may help you for next year!

I'm always really bad at thinking of original ideas for Halloween and with not having much time at the moment, I went for a really boring zombie school girl costume. For my outfit, I cut up an old white shirt and sprayed it with red hair spray, I wore a red tie of my brothers, a tartan Skirt from New Look, patterned tights from Primark, my Vans and a rucksack. Also, I wore glasses, back combed by hair, dip dyed the ends red and tied it up in a messy ponytail.

I'm not a massive fan of full face paint as I find it really irritating on my skin so I decided to just go for half a face. I painted my face white and gave myself a black eye for the zombie look and then placed fake blood on my forehead and dripping from my mouth. I decided to give myself black freckles on the 'normal' half of my face and contrast this with red freckles on the painted side to add to the zombie feel. I was really pleased with how my costume turned out and thought I would share some photos with you. Apologies for the quality, they were only taken on my point and shoot and a lot of them I was slightly intoxicated for!

What did you dress as for Halloween this year? Let me know in the comments below.
