June Favourites

Sunday, 12 July 2015

It feels like ages ago since I wrote a 'favourites'post, so apologies for that, but here's what I've been loving in June.

Most of the lipsticks I own are pale pinks and being so fair, nude or really bright shades don't suit me so I always stay in my comfort zone. However, for my holiday I wanted to try something different and fancied more of a coral colour. I'd never tried one of Kate Moss' lipsticks, but had heard a lot about how good they were, so when I saw this one in Boots, I couldn't resist. Although it is a coral colour, it definitely has more of a pinky undertone to it than an orangey one, so I haven't quite broken out of my comfort zone, but it's a step in the right direction I guess!

I have a real issue with my eyebrows. I got them done professionally for the first time last month and vowed to keep on top of them and to maintain the shape, but that hasn't really worked! I like to fill them in with an eyeshadow using an angled brush, but I find that they don't always stay in place all day. When I heard about Maybelline's 'Brow Drama' I knew I had to get my hands on one and see what all the hype is about. I bought the transparent one because I wasn't brave enough for the dark blonde one as I thought it would make my brows too dark, but this transparent one has been amazing. I use the brush to shape my eyebrows and then apply eyeshadow on top to fill them in. I have definitely noticed an improvement in my brows.

This was the first ever foundation I bought and only ever used it for nights out. However, a few years ago I stopped using it as I had found other foundations, but Maybelline had a 3 for 2 offer on in Boots and I couldn't resist buying an old favourite. I bought a slightly darker shade so that I could use it once I had got a tan on holiday. As soon as I used it I remembered why I loved it so much, I know a lot of people prefer more of a dewy finish from their foundation, but I'm much more of a matte girl. The coverage from this foundation is incredible, definitely the best I've ever tried. I will definitely be repurchasing this old favourite again soon.

I'm forever trying new mascaras and thought I'd purchase this as part of the 3 for 2 offer I mentioned above (hence why this is a heavily Maybelline filled favourites). I may be as bold to say that this is my favourite drug store mascara ever! It lengthens and volumizes my eyelashes so well and the plastic applicator means that it catches of all the lashes and coats them equally. Although I haven't tried Benefits 'Roller Lash', from what I've read, I imagine it would be a good drugstore dupe.

If you're a regular follower of my blog, you'll know that I'm on a never ending quest for more volumized hair. I saw this brow dry lotion from VO5 and had never tried anything like it before, coupled with the fact that it was on offer in Boots, I couldn't resist putting it in my basket. I have been really impressed with this product. I spray it on towel dried hair and then dry it using a hairdryer, afterwards I do notice an improvement in the volume in my hair, the only thing that lets it down a little is that I'm not 100% convinced it is as long lasting as I'd like.

What have you been loving this month?
