Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation | Review

Sunday, 30 August 2015

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you'll know about my love/hate relationship with foundation; I'm yet to find one that I absolutely love and am forever trying out new ones. Also, I prefer to wear a BB cream on a daily basis as I find it less heavy on my skin, however, I do like to wear foundation occasionally and especially for nights out. When I first saw Maybelline had brought out the Dream Flawless Nude Foundation, I swatched it and I was a bit concerned that the consistency was too thin and liquidy. However, a couple of weeks ago I was on the hunt for a new foundation and thought I'd give it a try so I purchased one in the shade Nude, annoyingly at the time I'd just come back from holiday and so had a bit of a tan, so now it's a little darker for me than I would have liked, but if I only use a small amount it's not too bad. So what do I think of it?

1./Consistency
The consistency isn't one that I thought I would like to start with. It's a liquid foundation and is a lot thinner than any I had ever used before, I wasn't sure how I would get on with it. However, because it's a liquid, it is really easy to blend and leaves a real flawless finish - like it says on the tin! Also, it means it's super lightweight on the face and so I barely notice I'm wearing it, unlike some heavier foundations.

2./Coverage
I am really impressed with the coverage, as at first I wasn't sure how good the coverage of a liquid foundation would be as I often think they're too thin to actually cover anything. As I mentioned earlier, I'm only using a small amount at a time, due to the colour difference, but despite this it still has a really good coverage and gets rid of all my blemishes and redness. It blends so well and I love the finish it leaves. It's in between a dewy and matte finish which is perfect for me.

3./Price
It only costs £5.99 which I think is absolutely incredible for this quality of foundation, other drug store foundations that I have used typically range from £7-£10 and not all of them are as good quality as this one.

4./Packaging
This is the only downfall for me. Although it comes in a cute glass bottle it has a tear drop applicator which I'm really not used to. I wasn't sure how to use it at first and if I'm perfectly honest, I rarely use it now. I tend to just pour the foundation straight from the bottle onto the back of my hand, which takes great concentration otherwise I end up with too much product running across my hand!

I have been really impressed with this foundation so far. As I mentioned, I wish it had a better applicator as it is a rather runny product, however, I can't doubt that it does what it says on the tin and as it is so easy to blend, it leaves a real flawless finish which I can't fault.

Tips for the Perfect Brows

Thursday, 20 August 2015

I don't claim to be an expert on eye brows and I'm far from completely happy with mine, however, after experimenting with different products over the years, I've now reached a routine that I'm happy with and it's so quick and easy that it literally only takes 2 minutes in the morning.

Firstly I start by using the Maybelline Brow Drama and I use the shade Transparent as I think the other shades would be too dark for me. I've only recently started using this product and I absolutely love it, it helps to keep my brows in place all day. It's a bit like a mascara wand, but it has a little round brush on the end that brushes through your eyebrows and the tinted colours help to colour the brows, but the Transparent one just helps to define them which has really made a difference to the way my brows look. My only criticism of this product is that it is quite dewy so I have to wait for it to dry before I move on to the next step.

Secondly, I use the Real Techniques angled brush with MAC Eyeshadow in Omega to fill in my brows. I used to do this step on it's own without the Brow Drama and it's now so much easier to fill them in and I don't get as many stray hairs throughout the day.

Having used brow pencils in the past, I definitely prefer using an eyeshadow to fill in my brows, as it leaves me with a much more natural look. As I'm so fair I find a lot of brow pencils are too heavy for my face and I'm yet to perfect a technique using them, so for now I'm going to stick with filling them in using eyeshadow.

So this is my established routine for better looking brows, what are your tips for the perfect brows?

What's in my Make Up Bag?

Wednesday, 12 August 2015

Like a lot of girls, I rarely leave the house without some make up essentials in my bag to top up throughout the day. So I thought I'd share those essentials with you.

Like most beauty bloggers, this is definitely my concealer of choice and I always carry it around with me. I just use it to cover up any blemishes or redness that start to show through and it's the perfect size to have in my bag.

As I've mentioned so many times before, this is probably my holy grail make up product, so it's no surprise that I carry it around with me every day. I use it to top up my make up if I'm feeling shiny or to add a bit of colour to my face if I'm starting to look a little pale - which always happens to me towards the end of the day!

This is still my favourite bronzer of all time so I always ensure that I have it on me. As I just mentioned, as my make up wears off towards the end of the day, I always look a little pale so I make sure I carry my bronzer around just to add a bit of colour back into my face.

For the same reasons as the bronzer, I like to carry this around with me to add a bit of colour back into my cheeks and to give them a rosy glow. I'm currently using the shade 'style' which is quite a subtle blusher so it doesn't leave me too rosy cheeked.

I don't think I have hayfever, but sometimes when it's particularly bright, my eyes start to water, even if I have sunglasses on! As I like to be prepared for all occasions, I always carry this eyeliner around with me to top it up if my eyes have watered and washed off the eyeliner.

Those of you who know me will know that I won't go anywhere without a lip butter, even if I don't have my make up bag on me. I'm currently using the Mango scented one and it literally goes everywhere with me!

These are all the essential make up items that I take out with me. What do you keep in your make up bag?
