Garnier vs Rimmel | BB Cream

Sunday, 27 September 2015

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you'll know that I love BB creams and opt for them over a foundation for an everyday make up look. I've been using the Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for the past year and have purchased 3 tubes of it. However, recently I've been getting a bit fed up with it so decided to try a new one. I had a look at a few in Boots the other week and after much swatching, I decided to buy the Rimmel BB Cream 9 in 1 Make up, so how do they compare?

Consistency
The Garnier one is a lot more liquidy and runny, which leaves a dewy look. In comparison, the one from Rimmel is a lot thicker which leaves a matte finish which I actually prefer. However, I have found that this because Rimmel's BB Cream is thicker, I find it a little harder to blend.

Coverage
Both offer great coverage with only a relatively small amount of product, however, I have found that I need more of the Rimmel cream to provide me with my desired coverage. This is because it's more dense than the Garnier one so doesn't blend as well.

Long Lasting
One of the things that prompted me to change my BB cream is that I was getting fed up with the way the Garnier cream would go patchy on my face towards the end of the day. However, whilst at first I was pleased with how well the Rimmel BB cream lasted, the more I wear it, the more I realise it's not great at lasting long either. I'm not sure if this is the nature of BB cream or if I've yet to find one that lasts all day.

Price
The Rimmel BB cream is a lot cheaper at £4.99, whereas the Garneir cream is £9.99. If this is a big factor in determining which product you would go for, I would definitely recommend the Rimmel product.

The Garnier BB cream has more of a peach undertone and even the lightest shade is still a little dark for me. In comparison, the Rimmel product has more of a yellow undertone which is much more suited to my skin tone and caters much better for the lighter skin tone. Despite, loving Garnier BB cream for the past year or so, I must admit I am moving more towards the Rimmel cream at the moment.

Have you used a BB cream? What's your favourite? Let me know in the comments.

August Favourites

Tuesday, 1 September 2015

Yet again, it's been a while since I posted a favourites, so apologies for that. However, August has been an exciting month for me so I have plenty of favourites to share.

I don't want to go into too much detail about this product as I recently reviewed it in a previous post. However, if you read my review of it, you'll see why I've been loving it so much this month. It's such a lightweight foundation to wear and so easy to use and blend, providing a flawless look. I can see this being a favourite for a while as it's really easy to use as a day time foundation.

Although I have been raving about the Maybelline foundation, I still prefer a BB Cream for an everyday look, especially when I'm at work. Again, I won't go into too much detail because I have a review coming very soon. However, I had been using Garnier BB Cream for the past year or so, however, I was getting a bit bored of it and wasn't completely happy with it, so I did a bit of research and decided to try this one from Rimmel. I really like it, it's a thicker consistency than the Garnier one, it suits my skin tone better and leaves me with a really good matte finish which I'm a massive fan of. As I said, watch out for a full review coming very soon.

I've had this primer for about 9 months now, but recently I've been using it more than ever. I only use a small amount and it holds my eyeshadow in place all day, it's such a simple product, but it's so effective.

I got a small sample of this product in The Body Shop Advent calendar last year and loved it so much so I decided to purchase the full sized product a few months ago. I've been using it every night for the past few months and I have really noticed a difference in my skin. It's much more hydrated and vibrant, I love it!

5./Eyemask
This is a very random favourite, but two years ago my friend Lucy bought me this eye mask for my birthday (hence why I don't have a link for it). I've used it quite a bit since then, but this past month I've been wearing it every night. I'm such a light sleeper so as soon as the sun starts shining through the curtains, I'm wide awake, so I've been wearing this mask to block the sun and its been helping me sleep so much better!

What have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments below.
