Styling Monochrome

What I'm wearing
Scarf: Primark
Lipstick: MAC D for Danger

This is currently my favourite outfit and I've been wearing it so much lately, that I thought it was only right that I featured it on my blog. Monochrome can sometimes be hard to style due to the lack of colours to make your outfit 'pop'. However, I've been really enjoying experimenting with different monochrome looks this season and have been wearing this combination the most.

The Topshop Joni jeans are a firm staple in my wardrobe and are so easy to style with a variety of outfits. The Striped Jersey top from H&M was a real impulse purchase. I was walking through the store and happened to see it hanging up, but wasn't sure it would suit me as it's quite oversized and I don't tend to suit that style. However, I've fallen in love with it and love styling it with my Joni jeans.  Stripes are so in at the moment and I love the style and fit of this top, I've found myself wearing it a lot more than I thought I would.

I'd wanted one of Topshop's biker jackets as soon as I saw them, back in late October and was lucky enough to receive this one for my birthday. I've been wearing this jacket non stop the past few months, it really helps complete an outfit and I've had so many compliments on it, I can't get enough of it. My Baker Boy Hat from ASOS featured in my January Favourites and having gone from someone who didn't like Baker Boy hats, to someone who loves them, I can't get enough of it. I've been trying to style it with so many different outfits and I really think it 'makes' an outfit. As it's so cold at the moment, no outfit is complete without a scarf and I wore this monochrome one I picked up in Primark. It's so warm and cosy and I love the colour of it as it makes it easy to style it with so many different outfits.

Finally, I completed my outfit with my suede buckle boots from Topshop which I absolutely love. When I first saw them, I wasn't sure they were 'me', however, I couldn't stop thinking about them and soon went back to purchase them and I'm so glad I did. They're super comfortable and so easy to style, I’ve been wearing them constantly.

As my outfit was completely monochrome I decided to wear a bright red lip to add a pop of colour to my outfit. I absolutely love using a lipstick as a feature for an outfit and the MAC D for Danger is the perfect shade to do this. A red lip is timeless and I think it helps to complete an outfit, especially when it pops against the colours of the clothes.

What tips do you hace for styling monochrome?

  1. I love monochrome! Just hate wearing black when one shade is faded and it looks like two different shades of the same colour (if that even makes sense haha) x

  2. I used to wear so many monochrome outfits when I was younger - you've kind of make me miss it now! I absolutely love the scarf and the boots! The boots seem to be really in lately - I've seen so many variations of these lately & have absolutely fallen in love with them. That scarf is perfect for pairing with any outfit as well!
