Cabin Bag Make Up

Sunday, 25 March 2018

I recently went on a city break to Copenhagen (if you haven't already, check out my instagram where I shared lots of pictures from my time away) and whilst I love city breaks, the luggage allowance is a bit of a pain! I went with my boyfriend and we opted for cabin baggage only as hold luggage was a lot more expensive and I was optimistic that I could fit everything I needed into a small suitcase (eek!). As a beauty lover, this was very challenging as my make up bag alone would normally take up half my suitcase. This meant I had to be really methodical with what I took away and think logically about what I needed. We were away for four nights, so I didn't need that much make up (did I?!)

Whilst the above looks like a lot of make up, I was actually impressed with myself that I was a able to keep it to such a minimum!

Face Products

For me, this product is a 'must'. I knew I would be spending the days out and about exploring Copenhagen and so wanted to ensure my make up stayed in place all day. With the Benefit POREfessional, I knew I would have no worries with that.

Again, being out and about all day meant that it was important I took a long lasting foundation with me and so opted for the Double Wear foundation from Estée Lauder - a firm favourite of mine. Whilst it's quite a heavy duty foundation, it was ideal for creating the perfect make up base for my day ahead.

I love this concealer and it's quite small, so is easy to fit into one of those clear liquid bags to go through security!

I can't go anywhere without the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder and so of course it came away with me. It's perfect for setting my make up and holding it in place all day.

When I bought this palette, I had travel in mind. It contains a bronzer, 2 highlighters and a blusher meaning I only had to take one palette with me to complete my face make up. Adding colour to my cheeks with the bronzer and blusher and highlighting my cheekbones with a highlighter, it was perfect for whilst I was away.

Eye products

I never apply eyeshadow without this primer form Urban Decay so I had to take this away with me. It's super light so knew it wouldn't take up much room in my bag, but it's a 'must' for me in my make up bag.

I don't use this palette that often, but thought it would be ideal to take away due to the large shade range, the light packaging and the huge mirror. I could create an everyday look with this palette and then smoke it out with darker shades for an evening look. I really enjoyed getting to experiment with different looks whilst away.

My current favourite mascara, volumises and lengthens lashes - I knew it would be perfect for my holiday.

I use this eyeshadow with an angled brush to shape and fill in my eyebrows. I thought opting for a powder would be the best eyebrow product to take as it freed up some room in my liquids bag.

Lip products

I actually ended up taking 4 lip products away (I couldn't help myself!) - MAC New York Apple which is a lovely red shimmer - perfect for both day and night. MAC Odyssey, this is my newest lipstick so I wanted the opportunity to try it with different looks,  Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Bitch Perfect as it's always handy to have a nude on you. Finally, I took Glossier Balm Dot Com in Birthday as a lip balm to apply before bed and first thing in the morning to keep my lips nourished.

In a weird way, I quite liked having a limited make up selection as it forced me to experiment with different looks. However, now that I'm home, I'm pleased to have my full collection back! What make up would you take away in a cabin bag?
