Yves Saint Laurent Makeover

Monday, 23 December 2013

As I mentioned in my previous post, it was recently my birthday and I was lucky enough to have my make up done my Yves Saint Laurent for my birthday night out. Whilst, applying my make up, the make up artist started to tell me about their 'Touche Éclat' product and applied it to my face to contour as well as to highlight just below my brow line. I loved the texture of it and the way it glided onto my face and so I decided to give it a try. At £25, it's not the cheapest product ever, but I am so glad I bought it. It is definitely worth it! I now wear it everyday and can't imagine not using it. It is really good to contour with and adds real definition to the cheek bones, additionally, it makes a great highlighter and I have used it a couple of times as a primer - it is definitely a multi-function product!

As it was nearing Christmas, Yves Saint Laurent had a promotion on; with every 'Touche Éclat' that was sold, the customer received a free mascara. I was really excited to receive this as I had never used a YSL mascara before. I was a bit unsure about it at first because it is only a miniature and I often find that they are never as good as full sized mascaras. However, having tried this, I absolutely love it. Whilst it adds a lot of volume to my lashes, I don't find it curls them as much as I would like, but I am really glad I tried it and would contemplate buying the full sized one in the near future.

I would definitely recommend the 'Touche Éclat' and I know that they are YSL's best selling product, with one selling every 10 seconds across the world. I will be sure to purchase another as soon as mine runs out!

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.

Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoos

Wednesday, 4 December 2013

I'd heard a lot about the Maybelline 24 hr Colour Tattoos and how good they were so I thought it was about time that I tried them for myself. I bought one in 'Eternal Gold' and having raved about it to my housemate she bought me 'Pink Gold' for my birthday and I absolutely love them. I know lots of people have blogged about these, but I thought I would add my own take on them.

The two colours that I have aren't very bold colours and so are very subtle to wear during the day. I particularly like wearing the 'Pink Gold' for an everyday natural make up look. 'Eternal Gold' is perfect for this time of year because it has a very Christmassy feel to it. When doing a smokey eye look, I like to blend 'Eternal Gold' into the corner of my eyes to open them up slightly and it adds a nice contrast to the dark eye shadow.

Also, they are great to use as a primer and base for eye shadow. I often wear one of them underneath my eye shadow for a night out as they hold the make up in place really nicely, particularly when I'm out clubbing in a hot environment and make up is prone to sliding off my face!

With Christmas around the corner, I'll be sure add more to my Christmas list and I look forward to experimenting with new colours.

Have you tried the Maybelline 24 hr Colour Tattoos? What do you think of them?

Blogging Virginity

Saturday, 16 November 2013

I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while, but have just never had the time. I'm also scared about putting myself out there on the internet for everyone to see and judge what I have to say. However, these past few months have been very challenging for me and reading other people's blogs has helped me so much. I've also come to the point where I need to stop caring about what others think of me and am determined to become more confident in myself. I know all girls struggle with their confidence and self-esteem, but lately I've had mine knocked so much that I'm fed up and feel that it is time to fight back.

I've always been interested in fashion and beauty, but these past few months I have become even more interested and have branched out of my comfort zone and tried lots of new things. I worked loads last summer and had some money left over, so thought I would put it towards trying new make up and start experimenting with different looks. I have really enjoyed expanding my make up collection, though now I have no money left!

1. Barry M Confetti Nail Polish, CNP 5 & Barry M Sequin Nail Effects, SNP 1/ 2. 17 Wild Metallics Eyes in Wild Nude/ 3. Bourjois Bronzing Powder in 52/ 4. Umbetto Giannini Glam Hair - Perfectly Un-Done Spray Wax.

For all those who know me, you know that I love nail polish and I am obsessed with painting my nails. I usually stick with Rimmel nail polishes and particularly their I Love Lasting Finish range. However, I spotted these two nail polishes in Boots and couldn't resist buying them. I love glitter nail polishes, but I find them so hard to take off. However, I find they look really effective as an accent nail and had loads of compliments when I tried wore both of them.

I'm quite lazy with everyday eye make up and usually just use eyeliner and mascara. However, I heard about the 17 Wild Metallics Eyes collection and wanted to give it a try. It's so creamy and doesn't crease at all. It's great to use as a base for other eye shadow, but it also looks good on it own. This has become my make up essential.

Having been away this summer I had got myself quite a nice tan and found that my powder was much too light for my skin, so thought it was time I invested in a bronzer. I had heard so many good reviews of the Bourjois Bronzing Powder and couldn't resist giving it a try. It smells and looks like chocolate, it is the most incredible bronzer ever. Now that it's winter and I am a lot paler, I find that it adds a bit of colour to my skin and saves me from looking washed out. Definitely worth a try!

Finally, the Umbetto Giannini Glam Hair - Perfectly Un-Done Spray Wax is quite possibly the best product I have ever bought. I have such straight hair that I find it very hard to give my hair any volume and it often looks weightless. However, this product as revolutionised my life! I find it great to use on a night out to give my hair volume or to add texture to my hair. Another great tip is to spray it into your hair and tie it up in a bun. Leave your hair tied up for the day and by night it is wavy and full of volume, this is such a quick and easy hairstyle for a night out. However, I bought this product back in July (I have only just got round to posting this blog!) and now I am running out, but I can't find this product anywhere. Has anyone seen it? Pleeease don't tell me it's been discontinued, I may cry.

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
