January Favourites

Wednesday, 4 February 2015

Normally I feel like the months whizz by, however, it really felt like January dragged on and on.  Although this month started off really well for me, seeing in the new year in New York, it gradually went downhill as I had two statistics exams to revise for at the end of the month. So, January pretty much consisted of revision and working. However, my time in New York and post exam celebrations have given me some exciting favourites to include.

As mentioned in my NYC Beauty Haul, I bought this whilst away, having lusted over it for months. I know there is so much hype around it, but I really don't know how I have managed to live without it for so long. I have the unfortunate pleasure of large pores and this helps minimise their appearance and has made me much more confident about wearing less make up. When I do decide to wear a full face of make up, it really does help to keep it in place, even on a night out. I will be saving all of my pennies to ensure I can afford to repurchase it.

I mentioned this product in my Body Shop Advent Calender Post so I won't ramble on about it too much here. However, what I will say is that I have been absolutely loving this cream over this past month. As previously mentioned, I've never gone anywhere near night creams, but having received this one in the advent calendar, I thought I would give it a try. I use a very small amount each night and it leaves my skin feeling so soft, even when I wake up the next morning. I can't wait to buy the full sized version once this one runs out.

3./Clarks - Lynsky Joy (sold out)
I feel like I am forever promoting Clarks, but these shoes really are my favourite shoes this month. When I first saw them come into store, I was a bit unsure about them, they are a lot more clumpy then the boots that I would normally buy. However, having spoken to several colleagues who had bought them, they all said how comfortable they were and the tread on them was so impressive that I thought they would be ideal for if it snowed in New York. I wore them the whole week whilst I was away and they were perfect! They were so comfortable and kept my feet so warm, I've even worn them on a night out since being back as they're so versatile for smart or casual occasions.

4./Cream Roses
This one's cheating slightly because cream roses are forever a favourite of mine. However, one day whilst revising I heard the doorbell ring and on the front step stood a delivery man with a huge parcel, apparently addressed to me. I was so excited to open it and was shocked when I was presented with a gorgeous bouquet of cream roses and a beautiful glass vase. Emil had surprised me as he knew how down I had been with revision and because he knew how much I was missing him (long distance relationships suck!) Anyway, for the past few weeks of January they have been sitting on my chest of drawers and always bring a smile to my face.

It's not very often that I get caught up in the hype of TV programmes and rarely sit down to watch a series on TV (a lot of the time I just catch up on my laptop). However, two years ago, my mum got me into Broadchurch and I was so engrossed - I absolutely love it. This month, they have brought it back for a second series and it's better than ever. If you don't know the story line, the first series is about a young boy who's body is found on a beach and the series is full of twists and turns as they try and find the killer. They eventually find the killer at the end of the series and the second series looks to be about his trial. However, as with the first time round, it's not plain sailing and there are yet more twists and turns, at the end of every episode there is such a cliffhanger that draws you back week after week. It's so well written and I've been loving watching it every Monday evening with my mum. If you haven't seen it, I've provided the link to ITV Player - you must go and watch it!
