The Body Shop | Blue Corn 3in1 Deep Cleansing Scrub Mask

Wednesday, 24 June 2015

For the past year or so I have been using The Body Shop's Warming Mineral Mask once a week to help cleanse my face. However, I wanted to try a mask that exfoliated my face more and so took a trip to my beloved The Body Shop to see what they had to offer. I was instantly drawn to the Blue Corn 3in1 Deep Cleansing Scrub Mask as I had read some reviews online about how good it was and at only £10, I couldn't resist.

I don't think I have ever loved a skincare product as much as this! I use it once a week and it leaves my skin feeling so fresh and clean. The 3in1 elements include; cleansing, exfoliating and moisturising and I definitely think it does all three, though I do like to use a moisturiser after as well. You apply a layer onto a damp face and it does sting a little at first, but I like to think that's the deep cleansing happening. It then hardens like a traditional face mask and after 15 minutes you wash it off. As I said, it leaves my skin feeling so clean and refreshed, I always use it just before bed so put The Body Shop's Vitamin E Night Cream on afterwards and my skin always feels so soft. It does have quite a heavy fragrance which I am a fan of as it smells so fresh, but I can see that it might put a few people off. I always notice how radiant my skin looks after having used it and it does help with any breakouts that I have.

I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a product that deep cleanses as well as exfoliates. It's not too expensive and it definitely goes a long way!

Have you tried the Blue Corn 3in1 Deep Cleansing Scrub Mask? What do you think of it?

Highlighters | Worth The Hype?

Sunday, 21 June 2015

Until 18 months ago, I had never really entertained the idea of using a highlighter, I didn't know much about them and if I'm honest, the concept of them scared me a little. However, for my 21st, I had a make over with YSL (read about it here) and my mum kindly bought me the Touche Éclat. It was the first time I had experimented with a highlighter, but my confidence with it grew after the make up artist taught me the best way to use it.

I absolutely loved that product and wore it non-stop until it ran out. However, at £25, it's not the cheapest product around and my student budget wouldn't stretch that far, so I then had to settle for an old Body Shop one that I found in the back of my make up draw. Luckily, for Christmas last year my friend Sarah bought me the Soap & Glory 'Glow All Out' which I absolutely loved and started to use it on a daily basis.

However, when I was in New York earlier this year, I spotted MAC's Mineralize SkinFinish in Lightscapade which I had been after for ages, but it was forever sold out in the UK. I love this one as it has more of a shimmer to it than the one from Soap & Glory, but as it is so pricey, I use it more for nights out or important days. I still use Soap & Glory's 'Glow all Out' as my everyday highlighter, it has more of a pinky tone which suits my complexion perfectly, I apply it to my cheekbone and it provides a gorgeous highlight throughout the day.

So are highlighters worth the hype? If you had asked me this time last year, I probably would have still been a little uncertain. However, now they are part of my everyday routine, I love the natural glow that they give my face and they help my skin to look a lot more radiant. So yes, they are definitely worth the hype and I couldn't live without them now.
