Holiday Beauty Essentials

Tuesday, 7 July 2015

I finally got an opportunity to relax and chill from my crazy life as I went away to Turkey last week, so I thought I'd share with you my beauty essentials from my week away.

1./Sun Screen & After Sun
It goes without saying that these two are holiday essentials, but they're even more important for me as I'm so fair skinned. This year I bought products from the Hawaiian Tropic range as they were half price at Boots and having used their Sun Screen and After Sun before, I knew how incredible they smelt. The only thing that I didn't like was that I couldn't get SPF 30 in a spray in any shops (and I tried a lot of Boots stores!!). I'm not a massive fan of a lotion and much prefer a spray, but seeing as I couldn't get hold of it anywhere, I settled for the Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen as it smells incredible. For the After Sun, I decided to try the Body Butter Exotic Coconut as I'd never used an After Sun Body Butter before and I thought it would be more moisturising than a normal lotion. For my face, I like to use the Oil Free Matte SPF 30 from Dermalogica as I find a usual sun screen is too heavy and clogs up my pores.

2./Waterproof Mascara
When I'm on holiday, during the days, I never wear make up. Not only does it feel heavy on my skin in the heat, but I'm forever in and out of the pool that it would constantly get washed off. However, I normally like to get my eyelashes tinted to make them look darker and make me look a little less scary without make up on, However, this year I didn't have the time to get them done so I decided to take a Waterproof mascara as it gave me that little bit of extra confidence without my make up. I know this is really bad, but I found an old Rimmel one in my draw. I know you're meant to throw mascaras out regularly, but I've barely used this one so I thought it would be fine. (I did try to find the link for this, but I think it's so old Rimmel have discontinued it - whoops!)

This is one that I actually used before I went away. Being so fair, it takes a lot for me to tan, therefore, I have to try every trick in the book to try to get as tanned as possible, Exfoliating is a great way to maintain your tan because it gets rid of any dead skin cells and so it's the new skin that tans and therefore, it lasts longer. I love the body scrubs from The Body Shop as they all smell incredible, this year I used one of their raspberry ones.

4./Translucent Face Powder
I always find it hard to get my make up right on holiday. As I've already mentioned I always avoid it during the day, but in the evenings I like to apply a little to make me look a little bit more human. However, I find foundation too heavy when it's hot and you end up needing about two different shades as the tan gradually builds. Therefore, I always rely on my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent (over a primer) because it helps to cover any blemishes, but isn't affected by any tan/sunburn I've managed to obtain.

5./Cooling Foot Spray
I hate having hot and sweaty feet, especially on holiday. So I always take The Body Shop's Peppermint Cooling Foot Spray away with me to help cool my feet down in the evening. Sounds weird, but feels amazing.
