Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation | Review

Sunday, 30 August 2015

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you'll know about my love/hate relationship with foundation; I'm yet to find one that I absolutely love and am forever trying out new ones. Also, I prefer to wear a BB cream on a daily basis as I find it less heavy on my skin, however, I do like to wear foundation occasionally and especially for nights out. When I first saw Maybelline had brought out the Dream Flawless Nude Foundation, I swatched it and I was a bit concerned that the consistency was too thin and liquidy. However, a couple of weeks ago I was on the hunt for a new foundation and thought I'd give it a try so I purchased one in the shade Nude, annoyingly at the time I'd just come back from holiday and so had a bit of a tan, so now it's a little darker for me than I would have liked, but if I only use a small amount it's not too bad. So what do I think of it?

The consistency isn't one that I thought I would like to start with. It's a liquid foundation and is a lot thinner than any I had ever used before, I wasn't sure how I would get on with it. However, because it's a liquid, it is really easy to blend and leaves a real flawless finish - like it says on the tin! Also, it means it's super lightweight on the face and so I barely notice I'm wearing it, unlike some heavier foundations.

I am really impressed with the coverage, as at first I wasn't sure how good the coverage of a liquid foundation would be as I often think they're too thin to actually cover anything. As I mentioned earlier, I'm only using a small amount at a time, due to the colour difference, but despite this it still has a really good coverage and gets rid of all my blemishes and redness. It blends so well and I love the finish it leaves. It's in between a dewy and matte finish which is perfect for me.

It only costs £5.99 which I think is absolutely incredible for this quality of foundation, other drug store foundations that I have used typically range from £7-£10 and not all of them are as good quality as this one.

This is the only downfall for me. Although it comes in a cute glass bottle it has a tear drop applicator which I'm really not used to. I wasn't sure how to use it at first and if I'm perfectly honest, I rarely use it now. I tend to just pour the foundation straight from the bottle onto the back of my hand, which takes great concentration otherwise I end up with too much product running across my hand!

I have been really impressed with this foundation so far. As I mentioned, I wish it had a better applicator as it is a rather runny product, however, I can't doubt that it does what it says on the tin and as it is so easy to blend, it leaves a real flawless finish which I can't fault.

Have you tried the Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude Foundation? What do you think of it?

  1. I really enjoyed reading your blog, Abi! :)
As this is the foundation I use, it was interesting to see what you make of it. I have to say, I agree with you on most of your points, especially regarding this stupid applicator! Not sure why they desinged it this way but I am not using it either.
I was quite impressed with the coverage and long livety of the foundation. This is the first foundation that made people ask me whether I was actually wearing any make up and state that it looked very natural - even 8 hours after the application. Another plus for me is the available range of teint nuances. As I have a very fair complexion, most of the foundations I find are too dark for me, making me look very unnatural.
So, I am very happy I found this foundation and that you have now too, Abi and can recommend it to everyone!

    1. Aww thank you Gina, that's so kind of you, I've been so busy lately I haven't been posting as much as I'd like.
I completely agree, it is a very natural looking foundation, which is why I love it so much!
Haha I'll definitely be recommending it to everyone, it's so good! Hope you're well! Xx
