Summer Skin Ready

Summer is fast approaching and during the warmer months I don't like to layer the make up on, so I try and ensure my skin is as clear as possible, but it's not always that easy! These are just a few things that I try to do during summer to help my skin look as clear and as healthy as possible.

1./Drink plenty of water
The obvious one! I know everyone says drinking water is the key to clearer skin, but not everyone is a fan of water and it can actually be quite hard to reach your recommended daily intake. However, I really do notice a difference in my skin when I drink more water. I always have a large glass of water on my desk at work and try and refill it at least 3 times a day.

2./Maintain a good skin care routine
This is one that doesn't come naturally to me as I'm really bad at sticking to a skin routine. However, I make sure that I at least remove my make up every night and cleanse and moisturise before bed to ensure I get rid of any impurities before I go to sleep.

3./Regular face masks
Following on from the previous point, face masks are a great way to help clear your skin. I try and use a face mask once to twice a week. Before doing so, I wipe a hot flannel over my face to ensure all my pores are open to maximise the results of the face mask. I like to use an exfoliating one to help get rid of any dead skin on my face and remove any impurities. 

4./Green Tea
I'm not a tea or coffee drinker, however, I do like to drink 1 cup of green tea a day. Since doing so, I have noticed a slight improvement in my skin and I like to think this is due to the antioxidants in the tea!

5./Avoiding the fatty foods
Again another obvious one and one that is often easier said than done. However,  I really do think this is an important one. When I have a particularly bad week of eating unhealthily, whether this be fatty foods or chocolate, I do notice that I start to experience a few break outs and my skin starts to worsen. Therefore, in the summer months I do try and avoid fatty / greasy foods wherever possible (though I never managed to stay away from chocolate for too long!)

6./Wash your hands
This is definitely one for all year round (as are many of the above!) It may seem obvious, but before touching your face, whether that be for removing make up, applying skincare etc, ensure you wash your hands. They are full of impurities and dirt and the minute you touch your face, this dirt gets transferred to your face!
