Bridesmaid Make Up | Eyes

Sunday, 28 August 2016

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was a bridesmaid for the first time a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I'd share with you my make up look. I posted my 'face' make up a couple of days ago, which you can check out here, but this is what I wore on my eyes.

Eye shadow primer - Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. I've recently fallen in love with this primer, having previously used the Original Primer Potion from Urban Decay, and I knew I couldn't not wear it at the wedding. It keeps my eyeshadow in place all day and prevents any fall out.

Eyeshadow - MAC Pigment in Vanilla. I'd seen a really gorgeous look on Pinterest that I wanted to re create, but I didn't have the base shade they used so I went on a hunt for it and this Pigment from MAC was the best match. I used this on my lid and it sat beautifully on top of the primer. I've never used a pigment from MAC before, but I love it, I definitely think I'll be going back for some more!

Urban Decay Naked Palette - 'Smog' - I used this shade from the palette through my crease and then placed 'Darkhorse' in my outer corner and blended through my crease to create more definition, I then swept it along my waterline.
'Virgin' - I used this shade to highlight under my brow bone and in the inner corner of my eye to help open them up a bit.

Eyeliner - Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen Carbon Black Extreme - I used this liquid liner along my lash line with a slight flick, but wanted to keep it quite subtle so didn't go to overboard, so I just used it to help add a bit of depth and definition to my eyes.

MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy- As you can see from the photo, this is a much loved eyeliner. I used this along my waterline as I didn't want to use black as I thought that would be too harsh for a bridesmaid look, but it helped create a bit more definition to the bottom of my eye/

Mascara - Benefit Roller Lash - I curled my lashes first and then used this mascara which I've absolutely fallen in love with. I had planned on using fake lashes too, but once I'd applied a couple of coats of this mascara I didn't feel I needed the lashes too so didn't use them in the end.

Eyebrows - MAC Eyeshadow in Omega - I used an angled brush with this eyeshadow to fill in my brows and help finish my look.

As I mentioned in my previous post, as the day was really busy and there was so much to do, I didn't get any good pictures of my make up, so below is the best photo I managed to get of my eyes so apologies it's not great.

Bridesmaid Make Up | Face

I was recently a bridesmaid for the first time ever which was super exciting. However, it meant that I had no idea how I was going to do my make up, so I spent the last few months on Pinterest and YouTube checking out all the different bridesmaid make up looks so I thought I'd show you what I used to create my look. As it was such an important day, I used quite a bit of make up, so I thought I’d split this into 2 posts; ‘face’ and ‘eyes’. In this post, I’ll be focusing on the face make up and I’ll be posting and eyes one later in the week.

Before applying my make up, I washed my face with warm water and applied The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream, allowing that to soak into my skin before applying any make up.

Primer – Benefit Porefessional – an old favourite of mine. I knew this would be ideal for the day as it would help keep my make up in place, so I applied this first.

FoundationNARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Mont Blanc – I bought this foundation a few months ago, with the wedding in mind as I thought it would be nice to have a more high end foundation for the day. My cousin, who is a beauty therapist, told me not to wear a foundation with an SPF in as it reflects the flash of cameras. As all the foundations I owned had an SPF in it, it was another excuse to go out an buy a new one!

Concealer Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Fair Neutral – This is another product I bought for the wedding. Although I love Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer I wanted a more special one for the day and had heard great things about this one from Urban Decay and it definitely didn't disappoint. However, I did also use a bit of the Collection Concealer in Warm under my eyes to help brighten them up a little more.

Powder Rimmel StayMatte Pressed Powder in 004 Sandstorm – I couldn’t not use this product, it sets make up so well and gives such a nice look to the skin.

Bronzer Benefit HoolaThis was another product that I bought with the wedding in mind. I’d wanted it for ages, but never had a reason to buy it, so this was the perfect excuse! I love it as it’s so pigmented. I brushed it over my cheeks and forehead to give my skin a bit of a glow and also used an angled face brush to contour my cheek bones and bridge of my nose.

Highlighter MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in LightscapadeThis is a firm favourite of mine so I couldn’t not use it. I used a fan brush to add a glow to the top of my cheek bones.

Also I used a bit of Maybelline Master Contour to add a little bit more definition to my cheekbones and used the highlight side just to add a little bit more of a glow to my skin.

Blush - MAC Powder Blush in Style - I love this blusher so I knew I wanted to wear it for the wedding. It's quite a subtle pink/peach blusher which blends so well leaving a natural colour on the cheeks.

Lip liner - Maybelline Colour Sensational Lip Liner in Sweet Pink - I realised the day before I was leaving for the wedding that I didn't have a lip liner so rushed out to Boots on my lunch break and got this one. It worked really well and I'm so glad I picked it up last minute.

Lipstick - MAC lipstick in Angel - This is my favourite lipstick and as it's quite a subtle pink, I knew it would be perfect for a bridesmaid look.

Setting Spray - Urban Decay All Nigher Long-Lasting Spray - I used this spray to help set my make up and ensure it stayed in place all day, I love this product!

As the day went passed so quickly, I didn't really get a good photo of my make up, but this below photo gives you a bit of an idea of what the finished look was like.

High End Make Up Picks

Wednesday, 17 August 2016

Last week, I did a Drugstore Make Up Picks so I thought I'd do a more mid to high end picks too. Some of the categories aren't aligned across the two posts as some products I only buy from the drugstore (e.g powder) and conversely, there's some I only buy from more high end retailers.

I swear by this primer, not only does it reduce the visibility of pores, it also helps make up stay in place all day.

I bought this foundation a few months ago and have absolutely fallen in love with it, you can read my full review here, but in short, it's so easy to apply, is high coverage without feeling heavy on the skin and lasts all day.

This is a relatively new purchase of mine, but I've been absolutely loving it. It's such a high coverage and is so easy to blend, plus it smells incredible!

Again, this is quite a new purchase for me, but I've already fallen in love. It's so pigmented and is such a beautiful colour, what's not to love!

Blusher - MAC Powder Blush
This is actually my everyday blusher as I love it so much. It's not very pigmented, but I prefer this for an everyday blush as it adds a natural tint to my cheeks.
I use this on a daily basis too. It's such a beautiful highlight and I do find this very pigmented, I only need a tiny amount to give my cheekbones a natural glow.

I have fallen in love with this product. Previously, MAC were my go to, high end mascaras, but since trying this, I've totally been converted. It volumises and lifts my lashes like nothing I've ever tried before.

Eyeliner - MAC Eye Kohl
I love both the 'Smolder' (black) and 'Teddy' (brown) shades in these pencils. I tend to use the 'Smolder' in my waterline for nights out / special occasions. Whereas, I use 'Teddy' on my upper lid during the day, particularly in the summer.

Eyeshadow - Urban Decay Naked
Of all the Naked palettes (and high end eyeshadows) the Naked palette is definitely my favourite and I find myself reaching for it the most. I think it's because the shade range is much more suited to my skin tone, than any of the other palettes I own. As with all Urban Decay eye shadows they're so pigmented and easy to blend, plus they're so long lasting.

I love this primer. I used to use 'Original', but I recently tried 'Eden' and loved it so went out and bought the full sized tube. I've never known an eyeshadow primer to keep my make up in place as well as this product, it's incredible!

Eyebrows - MAC Eyehadow
Being quite fair, I have to be careful with my brows as I don't want to apply loads of product and then make them look very unnatural, so I like to use an eyeshadow with an angled brush, just to help fill them in. I've been using Omega from MAC for a few years now and it does the job perfectly.

Lipstick - MAC Lipstick
I love the lipsticks from MAC, they're so pigmented and long lasting. As an everyday lipstick, my favourite has to be 'Angel' as its a subtle pink tone, that suits any make up look.

Lip Gloss - Urban Decay Revolution
I love this Lip Gloss, I've never had one that has such longevity and yet not sticky. It is probably the most long lasting lip product I've ever used
The Lip Liners from MAC are so easy to apply especially for a lip liner novice like me! I particularity like the Pro Longwear range as they last well all day.

What are your mid - high end make up picks?

Botanics All Bright Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Solution | Review

Sunday, 14 August 2016

As an O2 customer, I get access to the O2 priority deals, which is definitely one of the best reward schemes around (if you're not an O2 customer, you definitely need to change providers!) A lot of the time, they're not relevant to me, but they offer great deals with Boots, which I most definitely take advantage of! Recently, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw they were giving away full sized bottles of the new Botanics All Bright Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Solution, this was a treat I was not missing out on, I even made my boyfriend use his code to get me one too!

I've recently got into the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, but I was keen to see what another brand offered. The packaging, like all Botanics products, reflects they're natural ethos and it's floral pattern definitely makes it stand out compared with its Garnier counterpart. However, sadly I can't say the same about what's on the inside. Whilst there is nothing massively wrong with the product, I just don't feel it breaks down and removes my make up as easily as the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I find I often have to scrub a little harder and even then, my mascara doesn't all come off.

As a more natural product, it isn't fragranced, which doesn't bother me, however, sometimes if I accidentally use a bit too much, it can sting my eyes which isn't ideal!

So would I go out and purchase it in the future? Probably not. At £4.49  it's only a little cheaper than the Garnier Micellar Cleaning Water (£4.99) and I definitely think that provides better results.

Have you tried the Botanics All Bright Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Solution? Let me know what you think of it in the comments below.

A Trip to the Lavender Fields

Thursday, 11 August 2016

One of the things I love about where I live, is that in one direction, I'm half an hour away from central London, and in the other direction, I'm 30 minutes away from the countryside and I definitely made the most of the latter a few weekends ago. The weather was so lovely and for a change, I wasn't in central London for the weekend, so my boyfriend and I decided to take a trip to the nearby Lavender Fields. I'd seen picturesque photos of these fields all over my social media for the past couple of years, but I'd never realised how close they were. When we arrived, it was super busy and swarming with tourists, but we still managed to find a parking space and take in the beautiful fields. We were really lucky with the weather too and it's the perfect place to get some gorgeous photos - a bloggers dream! It was so lovely wondering through the fields with the smell of lavender in the air, even if there were bees everywhere! After taking a plentiful amount of photos we popped to the cafe for some lunch (which did take forever to queue for!) We both opted for a burger from the BBQ which was well worth the wait, before returning back to the car. If you're ever near the Banstead / Purley area I definitely recommend taking a trip to the Lavender Fields, it's £1 entry and the views are so worth it, what's not to enjoy!

Drugstore Make Up Picks

Sunday, 7 August 2016

Foundation - L'Oreal Paris 24H Infallible Foundation
I think I've mentioned this in a previous 'favourties' post before. I haven't actually used this in a little while as it's a bit light for my tanned skin, but this is still my favourite drugstore foundation. It's such high coverage and blends so well.

Concealer - Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Who doesn't love this concealer? For such a cheap concealer, it provides such good coverage and I can't fault it, it's a firm favourite of mine!

Powder - Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
I've probably used this product the longest out of all the make up products I use. Since buying this years and years ago, I have never tried another powder. I use '001 Transparent' to set my foundation, but if I'm not wearing foundation, I'll wear '004 Sandstorm' to add a bit of colour to my skin.

Bronzer - Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder
I've used this bronzer for a few years now and absolutely love it. Not only do I use it as a bronzer, but I also use it to contour my cheek bones occasionally.

Contour / Highlighter - Maybelline Master Contour V-Stick
This is a relatively new product that I've been using and you can read my full review here. It's so great to contour and is so easy to use at the same time! It's also a great highlight, I didn't think I'd ever like a cream based highlighter, but I was wrong!

Mascara - Maybelline Lash Sensational
Another firm favourite of mine, I've lost count of how many of these I've bought in the last few months. For a drugstore mascara, it's soo good, it volumises and legnthens the eyelashes so well.

Eyeliner - Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner
This eyeliner is definitely by far the best liquid liner I've ever used, it's felt tip point makes it so easy to apply and has helped me to get close to mastering the cat flick!

Eyeshadow - Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo
I have these Color Tattoos in a range of colours and I find them so easy to apply, particularly if I'm in a rush, I just apply it all over my lid and it stays on all day.

Lipstick - Rimmel - Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick
I love this lipstick, particularly in the summer. This is the only Kate Moss lipstick I own, but it applies so well, is a gorgeous coral colour and is really long lasting considering it's only £5.49.

What are your favourite drugstore products? Let me know in the comments below.

Summer '16 | OOTD

Wednesday, 3 August 2016

Top - Topshop
Skirt - ASOS
Shoes - H&M
Choker - New Look

I haven't done an OOTD post in ages and yet these are some of my favourites to post, so I thought it was about time I did one! I've been absolutely loving this outfit this summer and have pretty much worn it to death. I initially bought the skirt for work as I was struggling to find summer clothes that were suitable for work, but have actually worn it more out of work than I have in work! This top is also super cute, another favourite of mine from Topshop and I think it compliments this skirt really well. I bought these shoes on a bit of an impulse from H&M, but I'm so glad I did as I've fallen in love with them, they're great to dress up an outfit slightly, but are also so comfortable. Finally, I finished off my outfit with a choker that's pretty much been a statement item for me over the past few months.
