Wedding Guest | OOTD

Wednesday, 28 September 2016

I recently went to my cousins wedding in Manchester and the reception was held at the Victoria Baths. It was a beautiful venue that lent itself perfectly to some blog photography, so it was the perfect opportunity for an OOTD post. The Victoria Baths are old Edwardian Swimming Pools and Turkish Baths, whilst the pools are no longer in use, the venue can be hired out for events such as weddings or parties. This means that it's perfect for a quirky, original venue with really stunning photography.

Both my dress and blazer were from Miss Selfridge, which as I mentioned in my AW16 Wishlist, I'm loving at the moment. I wasn't sure this dusty pink would suit my skin tone, but I was really happy with it. I'd seen it in the store a few months back, but hadn't purchased it until fairly recently. As it was a September wedding, I knew I would probably need a jacket to go with it, but as it was such a light coloured dress, I didn't want anything bold for the blazer. Therefore, I opted for White, which I think complimented the dusty pink well.

I matched my white blazer with some white heels from New Look (which I had to take off towards the end of the night!), but I really struggled to find a white bag that I liked and matched the outfit. In the end, I borrowed one from my mum that she'd bought on holiday earlier this year.

I was really happy with this finished outfit, it was perfect for a wedding. Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below.

Lipsticks I'll Be Wearing This Autumn

Monday, 26 September 2016

With autumn fast approaching, it's time to put the summer lip products away and dig out all the berry, deeper shade lipsticks, which I'm really excited for. These are the five that I'll be reaching for the most over the coming months.

Although this is more of a lip gloss, I love it as it's not sticky like some other lip glosses. It's got a bit of a purple undertone and is perfect for an everyday autumn look.

I impulse bought this lipstick a couple of years ago as I needed a deep colour to go with my Halloween outfit and wanted something really cheap. However, I actually really like this lipstick, it's not the most long lasting lipstick ever, but the colour is so gorgeous.

I've had this lipstick for a little while now and I'm not sure Clinique still do this shade, but as you can see, it's much loved. It's a beautiful deep berry colour, I definitely need to go out and buy another one (if they still stock it!)

I love this lipstick. It's a deep red shade, which is quite bold for me, but it's such a lovely shade and as with all MAC lipsticks it lasts really well.

I know this is a favourite among many beauty lovers and I'm no exception. Again, this is a very bold colour, so I tend to only wear it on nights out, but it's so gorgeous and I'm so excited that it's nearing the time of year that I can wear it again.

What lipsticks will you be wearing this autumn?

My Everyday Make Up Brushes

Monday, 19 September 2016

Whilst my make up brush collection is ever growing, I have a few favourites that I use on a daily basis, these are mainly from Real Techniques and my Zoeva Rose Gold Vol 1 collection.

This is by far the best foundation brush I've ever used. It blends the product into the skin so well, leaving a flawless look.

I love this concealer brush, it's a really nice size to buff the concealer into the skin and helps cover any blemishes or spots really well.

This powder brush is sooo soft and it's the perfect size for powdering the face.

I actually use this brush for bronzer as I find it a bit big for blusher. However, it's the perfect size for bronzing my cheeks and forehead.

Although I've had this brush for a while now, I rarely used it until recently and now I use it all the time. It's perfect for sweeping highlighter over the top of my cheekbones for an everyday glow.

This brush is perfect for blusher, it's the ideal size for my cheek bones so leaves a really natural finish.

I really like this brush for applying a base shadow for an everyday look, it helps apply product evenly and is also good for applying product in the outer corner and through the crease for a more defined look.

I've used this brush for years and have never found one that blends as well as this one. It helps soften the eye make up so effortlessly, I got this in the Real Techniques  Starter Set and I'm not sure you can but it on it's own, but I love it!

This is the perfect angled brush for brows. I use it to help sweep eyeshadow through my brows to help fill them in without having scary looking brows.

If you're looking for everyday make up brushes, then I really recommend these. I like to vary my brushes up every so often, but these are currently the ones I'm using and loving on an everyday basis.

Why I Love Living & Working in London

Wednesday, 14 September 2016

Whilst for some the thought of living or working in London fills them with dread, for me I love it. I know a lot of people find it too busy and congested to live or work here, but I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. Having previously moved to Norwich for three years for uni, I really missed the buzz of London and now that I’ve got a full time job here, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

1./Everything is on your doorstep
This is the cliché term that everyone uses when referring to London, but I really do think it's true. I never have to go far for what I'm looking for, whether that's a particular shop, restaurant or attraction etc.

2./There’s so much to explore
Tying in with the above comment, there's so much to do in London, that you're never short of things to fill your weekends with, I couldn't imagine not having a huge amount choice of things to do at the weekends.

3./There are so many opportunities
There are so many jobs in London that it opens a whole host of opportunities. Particularly in the industry I'm in, 90% of the jobs are in the capital so if I didn't live in London, I definitely don't think I'd be in the career I'm in.

4./There is always something going on
Even if you do get bored of all that London has to offer, there are always events, pop up stores / restaurants, gigs etc going on, it's never hard to find something a bit different.

5./It can be pretty too
I know a lot of people are put off by the perceived lack of 'greenery' in London, but it actually has a lot to offer. There are so many really pretty parks that help you to escape the busyness of London life. Primrose Hill is probably my favourite as it has stunning views, but there's also Hyde Park, Regents Park and St James' Park to name but a few central ones. If you're visiting London, I definitely recommend checking one of them out.

So that's why I love living and working in London. Yes I'll probably never be able to buy my own house and yes it is very busy, but I could never live anywhere else.

What do you love about your home town? Let me know in the comments below.

AW16 Wishlist | Miss Selfridge

Saturday, 10 September 2016

Now that we're nearing Autumn, I can start thinking about refreshing my wardrobe with some warmer clothes and I LOVE AW fashion. I originally planned for this post to be an AW16 Wishlist across all my favourite retailers. However, after having spent a few hours scouring the internet and various websites, I was really disappointed with the new ranges in a lot of stores. That is, until I visited Miss Selfridge's website. I've always been a fan of this store, but particularly this summer I noticed that they had loads of gorgeous pieces and I definitely bought a lot more from there this summer than I ever have before. I'm pleased to see that they have upped their game for AW and they have loads of beautiful items so I had to be very selective as I basically wanted their whole website!

I love that this has a lattice back making it a bit different for a cardigan and how gorgeous is the colour?

This jumper looks so super cosy, I think it would be perfect for the colder months.

I am in love with this sweatshirt, I think the embroidery is so cute and it would really 'make' a more plain outfit.

Grey Chunky Neck Knitted Jumper
I'm not usually a fan of huge necked jumpers, but I think this one would be perfect teamed with some skinny jeans for an effortless outfit.

There's defintely a grey theme to this post, but I think this sweatshirt would be so easy to throw on and be ideal for a more casual look.

Skirts / Dresses

How cute is this skirt?? I'm loving this style of skirt at the moment and I think the embroided flowers are gorgeous.

Although I already have a very similar dress, I think this would be perfect to throw on for a day at work.

I really like this coat and I think it's really sophisticated, though I'm not sure how much I'd actually wear it.

Although I probably don't need anymore boots, I love these ones as the heel isn't too high so I can definitely wear them for everyday, but they'd also be great for dressing up an outfit.
It;'s currently taking all my willpower not to order everything featured in this post, I think it's all so gorgeous and ideal for this season. What's on your wishlist for this AW?

Top 4 Products for Volumised Hair

Wednesday, 7 September 2016

I have naturally straight hair, so whilst it's quite easy to manage, I do have problems with a lack of volume, so over the years I've tried a variety of products to try and get a bit of volume in my hair, but I'm finally happy with the combination I've found.

After washing my hair with Tresemme Cleanse and Renew Deep Cleansing Shampoo and Conditioner for normal hair, I run this mousse through my hair with my fingers after towel drying my hair.

I love this spray and it definitely has made the most difference. After applying the mousse I spray this throughout my hair, ensuring I spray at the roots and underneath my hair before blow drying.

I've used this hairspray for years and I swear by it. After drying my hair, I tip my head upside down and spray this at the roots to help provide maximum volume. I then spray at the roots on the top of my head and then 'jush' up my hair with my hands and spray all over to hold in place.

If I haven't washed my hair, then I spray  this dry shampoo throughout my hair and it always helps create volume as well as helping it look more fresh. I then set in place with my Silverkrin hairspray.

August Favourites

Sunday, 4 September 2016

I've loved this month, it's been so sunny and actually felt like a summer month! So I've had lots of reasons to be happy and with that comes plenty of favourites!

I've been using the original version of this mascara for the last year or so now, but when I last went to repurchase it, I noticed this one and thought I'd give it a try. At first, I wasn't sure about it as its quite thick and can be a bit clumpy. However, the more I use it, the more I love it. It's really volumising and long lasting, also it's really black which I love in a mascara.

I've wanted this bronzer for ages and finally got round to getting it earlier this month. I absolutely love it, it's so pigmented and is great for contouring and adding a bit of colour to my cheeks.

Liquid lipsticks are really popular at the moment and I wanted to know what all the hype was about so went out and purchased this one from NYX. At first, I was a bit worried that the shade was too dark for me, but the more I wear it, the more I love it!

I absolutely LOVE this stuff, it has revolutionised my life. I always have my nails painted, but I never have enough time to let them dry properly and then they all smudge and it's so annoying, but this product has put an end to that stress. You apply it 2 minutes after your last coat of colour and your nails are dry to the touch within seconds, no smudging or anything! I can't recommend this product enough!

I've wanted a bomber jacket for months, but was never sure if I could pull it off, but I finally bit the bullet earlier this month and I'm so glad I did as I absolutely love it and have worn it loads recently.

6./Stranger Things
This has by far been the best TV programme I've watched in a very long time! Everyone was raving about it, but I'd heard how scary it was and I can't deal with scary programmes / films (I know I'm a wimp!) so I was a bit reluctant to watch it. However, I was determined to see what all the hype was about so decided to stop being such a wimp and started watching it (admittedly through gaps in my fingers at times)! As I mentioned, it really is so good and all the hype is worth it. For those of you who don't know and without giving anything a way, it's set in the 80s - with an amazing 80s soundtrack - and is a supernatural thriller focusing on a disappearance of a young boy in a small town in America. If you haven't seen it yet, you really should!

What have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments below.
