My Evening Skincare Routine

Sunday, 9 October 2016

I've never been great with a skincare routine. When I was a teenager, I went through that typical spotty teen phase and would religiously cleanse, tone and moisturise in an attempt to do anything for clearer skin. However, the skincare range I was using was discontinued and I never found one that I was happy with so I just stuck with warm water and a flannel for a while and as I grew up, the spots began to clear up. Since then, I've realised the importance of a skincare routine and ensuring I properly cleanse my face after a day of wearing make up. Having said that, I'm still not a skincare expert and am a little reluctant to spend a small fortune on high end products as I'm not convinced the price is always reflective of quality. However, I now have an established routine evening skincare routine which seems to work well with my skin and lifestyle!

Firstly, I use a micellar water to remove my make up and am currently using this one from Botanics. Whilst I'm not completely sold on this product (see my full review here), it does the job so I'm going to continue using it until it runs out, after that I'll probably go back to the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water which I love.

After removing my make up with micellar water, I wash my face with warm water and then apply this cleanser to remove any other traces of make up, I love this cleanser, it's so gentle on the skin and leaves it feeling really fresh and clean.

This is such a hydrating moisturiser that I can't use anything else before bed. After cleansing my face, I wait for it to dry and then apply this moisturiser, I massage it into my skin to ensure my skin is really hydrated before I sleep.

I then apply this under my eyes. I know a lot of people like to use this product in the mornings, but for me I like to use it in the evening to help work its magic over night. It's so refreshing and helps remove the puffiness under the eyes.

Finally, I apply a lip balm to ensure my lips are moisturised. I'm currently using this one from NUXE, which isn't as moisturising as the NUXE RĂ©ve de Miel Nourishing Lip Balm, but it is still a lovely lip balm before bed.

Also, once a week I use a face mask either Blue Corn 3 In 1 Deep Purifying Scrub Mask  (full review here) or Warming Mineral Mask both from The Body Shop just to help give my skin a thorough cleanse and remove any impurities.

Whilst I have a very simple skincare routine, it works well for me, I try to avoid using any harsh chemicals on my face and at the same time it doesn't break the bank!
