May Favourites

Monday, 28 May 2018

Can we just take a moment...how are we about to enter June? Like seriously, where has this year gone? For me, it’s been a crazy few months of busy work life and busy personal life and now we’re half way through the year! May has been particularly busy at work, so I’ve been trying to make the most of the time when I’m not at work and have been trialing and loving lots of different beauty products!

I’d wanted a powder contour palette for ages, but they were always so expensive and as a contouring novice, I didn’t feel I could fork out. I’d come across a few cream palettes, but over the years, I’ve come to learn that cream products aren’t for me. Whilst browsing the Revolution products, I came across the HD Pro Powder palettes and for only £8 I knew it was worth a try. There are 8 shades (although I’ve only really stuck to 1) and they’re incredibly easy to blend. The pigmentation is perfect meaning it doesn’t take long to blend, but at the same time it doesn’t look like I’ve got brown streaks all over my face - I love it!

I’ve put the these two products as one favourite as I’ve been wearing them together. I apply Bitch Perfect and then apply the nude lip gloss in Seduction on top to give it a glossy look. Not only does this help keep the lipstick in place, but I think the gloss looks beautiful in this warmer weather. In the winter, I love reaching for dark lipsticks and in the summer I really struggle to find nice light lipsticks. However, having been given these as presents for my birthday and Christmas, I’ve been wearing them constantly during the spring / summer weather. They go with everything no matter what eye look I do or outfit I’m wearing.

I bought the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette in late August last year, so didn’t get much chance to wear it before it turned really cold. However, I’ve been reaching for it so much in this warmer weather, I love it! It creates the most gorgeous looks in the summer without being too heavy. I’ve been particularly loving Lumbre, Scorched and Dirty Talk as the three shades work really well together and create a really gorgeous look.

In this heat, it’s harder for make up to stay put (gross I know!) However, thanks to the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray I’ve found my make up stays put for longer even when I’m really hot. It’s been a life saver these past few weeks!

5./Evil Genius
It wouldn’t be a monthly favourites without a more random favourite and this month it’s the Netflix series Evil Genius. This is based on a true story from a town called Erie in Philadelphia where a man carried out a bank heist with a live collar bomb around his neck and the series follows the investigation that ensued after the crime. It’s got a Making a Murderer vibe to it so if you like that or any other true crime series, this is a must watch!

What have you been loving this May? I’d love to know in the comments below!
